About Autism Resource Centre (Singapore)

Autism Resource Centre (Singapore) or ARC(S), is a not-for-profit charity based in Singapore and registered in year 2000. It was started by professional and parent volunteers dedicated to serving children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to help these individuals lead meaningful and independent lives in society.

ARC(S) adopts a co-ordinated, multi-pronged approach to serving individuals with ASD through awareness, advocacy and empowerment.

    Advocate for a wide range of services that will enable individuals with autism to maximise their potential.

  • The Community Foundation of Singapore and Milk Fund co-funded the MILK Fund Bursary for Pathlight School students from low income families
  • The MILK Fund Bursary provides financial support for school textbooks, stationery, uniforms, transport, pocket money as well as fees for enrichment programmes
  • This ensures that students from low income families have equal access to quality education and enrichment programmes  
  • 235 (about 26% of total student population) Pathlight School students benefited from this programme

  • ARC(S)'s annual fundraising event, A Very Special Walk 2013, attracted about 1,000 people
  • Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, Acting Minister for Manpower, officiated the event
  • After the walk, participants enjoyed a concert performance and had fun at a mini carnival
  • The event raised S$578,000 exceeding the target of S$300,000
  • Funds raised were channelled to ARC(S)'s Employability and Employment Centre (E2C), which aims to equip adults with autism with employable skills for placements in suitable jobs, with appropriate job support

  • 83 Pathlight students from Upper Primary and Artist Development Programme (ADP) had the opportunity to contribute to the community through their artwork
  • These students painted 60 light cubes as part of Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital's Christmas fundraising drive, 'Light a Dream'
  • The light cubes were sold online with prices ranging from $100 to $300 and Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital matched dollar for dollar for every light cube sold
  • $24,000 was raised for Pathlight School’s Poor and Needy Fund

  • 20 Pathlight students participated in the annual charity Swimathon organised by the Rotaract Club of National University of Singapore (NUS)
  • They swam alongside 450 other swimmers to raise funds for  Pathlight School, the designated beneficiary for 2013
  • $29, 831 was raised from the event for Pathlight School’s Poor and Needy Fund
  • Pathlight students and their families demonstrated the value of ‘Contribution beyond Self’ in this fund-raising event
  • Pathlight School is grateful to NUS Rotaract Club for the opportunity to be part of this ‘youth for youth’ advocacy event!

First Insurance Plan Designed for People with Special Needs

  • NTUC Income, in consultation with Autism Resource Centre (Singapore), launched the first-ever insurance plan for people with autism - SpecialCare (Autism) - on 14 August 2013
  • This plan covers children and adults with autism aged between 15 days to 30 years old for medical expenses due to accidents and infectious diseases
  • Pathlight School funded the first year premium for students in its lowest 10 percentile on its subsidy scheme
